Guardian’s Employee Benefits Products

Dental

There is a strong connection between oral health and a person's overall health. Guardian is committed to offering dental plans that will help keep employees healthy while allowing employers to offer quality employee benefits plans even with a smaller budget.

Guardian works with brokers and employers to create flexible, innovative plan designs that help meet their unique needs. Innovative features, such as Maximum Rollover and Preventive Advantage, stretch annual maximums to allow members to

get more valuable treatments. Backed by one of the nation’s strongest PPO networks with over 74,000 dentists at more than 169,000 locations – with discounts averaging 30% – members have access to more choice and savings.

Life Insurance

Life insurance is the key vehicle for providing financial protection for family and loved ones to help manage expenses in the face of loss. But the fact is 3 in 10 employed individuals in the U.S. rely solely on group life insurance for their coverage needs.* That’s why it is such an important cornerstone to any company’s employee benefits solution offering. Guardian offers a wide variety of competitively-priced, high quality life insurance products including:

Term (Basic) Life Non-contributory, contributory, and voluntary plans plus value-added options:

• Waiver of Premium (continuation of insurance while waiving payment of premium for employees who become totally disabled)

• LifeAssist (added financial security for employees who suffer a severe disability)

• Portability

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

Disability

Disability Insurance is a valuable coverage employers provide as an employee benefit because it protects people's most valuable asset - their ability to earn an income when they are unable to work. Companies that want to ensure their productivity and profitability while making certain their employees are in good hands should put their trust in an industry leader.

Guardian has been protecting against financial hardship brought on by disability for over 40 years. We offer a full range of flexible, creative short-term and long-term disability plans to help meet the specific needs of companies, and most any budget. Customers can count on fast, fair and accurate claims administration plus employee benefits resources expert return-to-work and rehabilitative services to help employees get back to a productive lifestyle.

Critical Illness

During a health crisis, families can incur costs that are typically not covered by health insurance - a spouse’s lost wages due to caretaking, commuting costs to doctor’s offices, and an increased need for child care. In fact, two-thirds of the costs of cancer are non-medical*.

As part of our employee benefits solutions, Guardian offers Critical Illness coverage that helps protect employees'  financial well-being during recovery from a serious illness. Payments can cover out-of-pocket medical expenses like deductibles and experimental treatments, as well as the non-medical expenses mentioned above.

Lump sum amounts are available up to $50,000. A hospital admissions benefit provides up to $500 per day for hospitalization due to a non-critical illness.

Guardian's Critical Illness coverage may not be available in all states.

Vision

Eye health is an indicator of overall health. Vision insurance gives people access to quality vision care. Since most people would trade a vacation day for eye care benefits*, vision coverage is an increasingly important part of any employee benefits program. Guardian provides rich, flexible vision plans covering exams and materials. Members can visit any doctor they wish but save significantly on out-of-pocket costs when visiting a network provider. A choice of two provider networks gives members thousands of access points nationwide:

Vision Service Plan (VSP): One of the nations' largest vision networks with over 36,000 access points nationwide.

Davis Vision: Over 45,000 network providers nationwide, including private practice doctors and retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, JC Penney, Sears, and Pearle

Section 125 (FlexPlan)

A complement to any employee benefits package, Section 125 plans (named because they operate under Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Act) are an easy way for employers and employees to save on taxes, making more money available for other needs.

FlexPlan, Guardian's Section 125 plan, includes options for employees to use pre-tax dollars taken directly from their paychecks to pay for eligible group insurance premiums, non-covered health expenses, dependent care and transportation expenses.

For every $100 an employee sets aside pre-tax, he saves approximately $22.65* and employers save on the matching FICA tax for Social Security and Medicare.
